Another busy day for Arthur, so another short letter for Dollie; the fish arrived safely so will be eaten for breakfast tomorrow; the cold weather has given Arthur a toothache.

Billets – France, Sunday even 9.25pm
… I’m going to ask you to forgive another short letter: please God, I’ll get an hour or two to myself to-morrow after tea, & be able to answer you at length. Your dear letter of Friday came to-day; for which a thousand thanks, dear: you can never write too long. I just love your letters, sweet heart of mine. I am so happy when a letter comes in your dear handwriting.
There’s an awful noise going on. All the others are talking hard & laughing loud! The fish arrived to-day also – simply tophole. We are going to have them to-morrow for breakfast. You are a generous, careful little darling. Thanks awfully.
I’m so glad your Mater is better, dear: I’m pretty fit, but tired & my jaw aches rather, on the opposite side to where I had my teeth seen to. DV it will soon pass off. I think it must be the cold…
