9th November 1918
Last full day on the front line for Charles Muscat. His B Company was in support (ie just behind the 2 companies at the front) but able to return to billets at 4pm. The Battalion History describes the difficulties in getting supplies to the front along the impassable roads and the welcome they were getting from the French villagers who had been in German occupied territory for 4 years.
On this day the Kaiser was forced to abdicate while armistice negotiations continued in the rail carriage at Compiegne.
