15th November 1918: Poor Adela – she can hide the fact no longer that she is ill – Daisy has sent her to bed at the Grove. Meanwhile Maggie Agius is returning home soon – and Joe is overjoyed. Adela hopes it won’t be long before Edgar returns too.

… I told you I was in for flu didn’t I? I came over last night and was sent to bed.
It brings it all back to me when I was ill before & you were here & I’m in Alfred’s room. Last night was awful. I thought I should have gone mad with my eyes & head, but I’m much better this morning. Everybody is so good to me & I hate being a trouble. I was trying to ward it off myself, but I was spotted. Its awfully bad luck getting it don’t you think?
Daisy & I were wondering if you will be coming home soon. Maggie is coming back on Tuesday. Joe is very excited.
This is a very bad letter but you must excuse…
